CLUB HISTORY

WHERE IT STARTED

Club History

The inaugural meeting of the WA Pharmacy Golf Club was held at the Guild Perth offices. This meeting took place on the 29th October 1997.

However, it was our current member, Roly Hill, who had first proposed the idea of the Club many years earlier. The concept generated considerable discussion throughout the Guild ranks when the WA Pharmacy Guild Cup was played in the 1980s, but it never developed into a sustained initiative in its own right.

Years later, Colin Richardson revived the concept of an independent WA Golf Club representing the interests of pharmacists, alumni, and providers to the pharmacy channel. The idea was sparked by Colin Richardson’s interactions with the SA Pharmacy Golf Club during business visits to the state.

Colin, through all his hard work and determination was the Founding President and, later, after nearly 10 years in the role, was honoured with Life membership.

Foundation committee members were Syl Lane, Tony Garbin, Don Bodlovich, Roger Mullen and Mitch Davies. Peter Colrain, another member still today, was a Foundation member of the club.

The first game of the WA Pharmacy was held on 13th March 1998. This was a 4 Ball Ambrose held at the Araluan Club. The winners team included Roly Hill and Brian Herbert, with Brian also still a member today.

The Don Bodlovich reflection

For many years Don played a significant committee role documenting all aspects of the club. Don retired in 2022 and it would be remiss of the club to not reflect and thank Don for his great contribution and support to many Presidents, Captains and Committee persons for over 20 years.
