Post Game report

Captain’s ReportThe annual Guild Cup is one of our most important and prestigious trophies. We were greeted with some magnificent weather and a real treat of a golf course as Gosnells once again reminded us why it is knocking on the door for the Golf Digest top 100 courses in the country. Brilliantly navigated by Geoff Brooks with a massive 42 points, Geoff will now enjoy a year of golf courtesy of the Guild, we thank them for their ongoing support of our club and industry. Terry Gale was unlucky to miss out posting a 41 on his home deck, better scores by Devesh Sheth and Tyson Wellman both managing to match their handicaps. We will have a short break due to school holidays and give winter a chance to settle in before turning our attention to the first leg of the King’s Cup at Royal Fremantle on the 5th August. The SW Club Championships is also taking shape with Geoff Brooks in a commanding position in A grade and our president Tyson Wellman well out in front of B grade. Looking forward to seeing many of you at Royal Fremantle, until then good golfing.
President’s Report

Gosnells Golf Club, along with the WA Club (Mt Yokine) are fast becoming the crowd favourites of the WA Pharmacy Golf Club. They tend to be well attended and when putting the calendar together for the following year, both tend to be the first games selected, and suitably so. Once again the weather gods looked down on us with some beautiful weather for late May and an even better evening for presentations and dinner outside on the lawn

This trip to the misnamed Gosnells (should be Canningvale Golf Club), was courtesy of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (WA Branch) and once again it was well represented by some stars of the show. Given the workload and responsibility the Pharmacy Guild has to deal with, we are hugely grateful that their representatives could find the time to spend with us: Andrew Ngeow (president),  Adrian Staltari (branch representative), Natalie Williss (fresh from 8CPA negotiations) and the evergreen Matt Tweedie (former director). Always great to seeing these representatives and playing for the Guild Cup!

The Wholesalers (API, Sigma and Symbion) again sponsored this game, together with novelty sponsors, Aero Healthcare, Guild Insurance and Guild Financial. Good old Massimo once again represented SW Accountants who sponsor the club Championships, and it was really great to see Michael Buckley for the first time in a while, sponsor of the Matchplay Championship!

We had 44 registrations and with the usual withdrawals ended up with 40 players, which gave me the perfect opportunity to finally get my name on some of the club silverware. Unfortunately, golf is a great leveller and although I was in good position with 3 holes to play the inevitable implosion occurred when the realisation I was in contention occurred. Oh well, the glorious Royal Fremantle Golf Club on Monday August 5th, thanks to AP Group’s David Gilbert beckons, and will give me the opportunity to wrestle the Kings Cup away from Brett Loeper !!
